The toxicity and long-term health effects of recreational use of ALD-52 do not appear to have been studied in any scientific context, and the exact toxic dose is unknown. This is because ALD-52 is a research chemical with a very limited history of human use.

Anecdotal evidence from people who have tried ALD-52 within the community suggests that simply trying the drug alone at low to moderate doses and using it with great caution will not have negative health effects (although nothing can be completely guaranteed)

As with other psychedelic substances, relatively few physical side effects have been reported associated with acute ALD-52 exposure. Although no formal studies have been conducted, it is likely that, like LSD itself, [17]ALD-52 can be considered non-addictive, with extremely low toxicity relative to the dose. It is also possible that, as with LSD, acute ALD-52 exposure has few negative physical, cognitive, mental, or other toxic consequences.

However, as with LSD and psychedelics in general, ALD-52 can be a potential trigger for those with underlying psychiatric conditions. Extreme caution is advised if a family member is known to have bipolar disorder or schizoaffective disorder, as those with a personal or family history of mental illness are generally advised not to use this substance, especially outside of a supervised medical setting.

People are strongly advised to use harm reduction practices when using this substance.

Tolerance and addiction potential

Although no formal studies have been conducted, it is reasonable to assume that, like LSD itself, ALD-52 is not habit-forming, and that the desire to use it actually decreases with use.

Tolerance to the effects of ALD-52 was established almost immediately after ingestion. After that, tolerance takes about 5-7 days to decrease to half and 14 days to return to baseline (in the absence of further depletion). ALD-52 has cross-tolerance with all psychedelics, which means that the effect of all psychedelics is reduced after the use of ALD-52.
